We are excited to announce that Mariner will be hosting a fundraiser for one of our own, Mighty Mia. The event, "Mighty Mia's Fight," will take place on
Saturday, October 26th, at the Mariner Fields from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The fundraiser will include a bake sale, Mighty Mia merchandise, and a variety of raffles and silent auctions. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Mia’s family to support her ongoing treatment and care.
About Mia:
Mia’s journey has been one of incredible strength and resilience. At age 6, after a year of unexplained vomiting and numerous doctors attributing her symptoms to constipation, Mia began having severe headaches. Her parents insisted on further testing, which led to an MRI that revealed a brain tumor in the 4th ventricle of her brain. This location of the tumor caused the constant vomiting she had been experiencing.
A neurosurgeon performed a craniotomy and a tumor resection. Pathology reports classified it as a cancerous tumor, treated like Medulloblastoma. Mia then began a long, grueling treatment process, including 30 rounds of full brain and spine radiation and 5 cycles of chemotherapy. She has since undergone numerous additional treatments, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, high-dose steroids, and multiple surgeries to manage complications and side effects.
Despite everything, Mia has remained strong, positive, and continues to smile through it all. Her resilience is a testament to her spirit, and we are inspired by her bravery.
