Travel Coaching Duties, Responsibilities and Behavior

 
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
-           Report directly to the Director of Coaching
-           Create a fun and competitive soccer environment in training and in games.
-           Be a good role model.
-           Establish and execute session plans.
-           Follow the MYS curriculum document and model your coaching after it.
-           Follow the MYS game day management outline and model your coaching after it.
-           Creating a team schedule (Training times and days, arrival time for games etc.)
-           Be in constant communication with DOC and/or travel director
-           Report scores within 48 hours of the completion of your game.
-           Allow players to participate in a minimum of ⅓ of the game for MTOC eligible teams and ½ the game for non MTOC eligible teams.
-           Set the standard for sportsmanship with opponents, officials, administrators, and spectators.
-           Be available for parents and players concerns and questions (24 hour rule).
-           Maintain a professional structure and attitude at all times
-           Develop players individually within the team format with regards to all aspects of the game. 
-           Build a strong team culture
-           Have a passion for the game, the patience to teach, and the ability to relate and understand children with different soccer and athletic skill sets

Expectations about behavior
Coaches are expected to maintain a good example for both players and spectators. Coaches are also expected to fulfill the coaching expectations outlined above.  If a coach has not met MYS coaching expectations, does not follow SCSL and MYSA guidelines, or verbally or mentally abuses a player, parent, other coaches/players, and/or referees, the following will take place:

1st offense:  Mariner Youth Soccer D.O.C. and/or board members will meet with the coach to talk about expectations/behavior

2nd offense: Coach is removed until he/she meets with Mariner Youth Soccer D.O.C. and/or board members to discuss further involvement.
